The CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) operation
begins with a CAD version
of your design. We then convert the file, inputting
instructions for the mill. The Revo 540B mill
automatically cuts a smooth 3-D wax model of your
design. Models can also be milled in two pieces
for bi-color designs.
Symmetry Symmetrical structures (including settings) and
repetitive motifs are carved in exact detail.
Intricacy Milling produces consistently clean, defined design
details (areas as small as 0.15 mm in dimension) for
intricate pieces that used to require the skills of
hand fabrication or hand engraving.
The smooth milled surface is a
time-saver in finishing and an advantage in
retaining design detail.
Casting-ready models
Milled models are cut from the same carving wax used
in traditional hand carving. At Mann Design Group,
we hand finish each model so that it is ready to
make an RTV mold or go directly to casting.
